Merchants Lacrosse Club to Host 2025 Presidents Cup

Canadian Lacrosse Association Accepts Brooklin Merchants Bid

The Brooklin Merchants are thrilled to announce that their bid to host the 2025 Presidents Cup was successful.

History

The Presidents Cup is the National Senior B level box lacrosse championship for the Canadian Lacrosse Association. The annual championship awards Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

It is in honour of the Canadian Lacrosse Association President and recognizes the contributions of all Past Presidents of the CLA. This beautiful silver trophy was donated to the Canadian Lacrosse Association in September 1964 by Mr. K.G. Thompson.

The original Presidents Cup was retired to the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in New Westminster, BC in the early 1980's. The current trophy commemorates the history of leadership of the CLA and lists the Presidents of the Association and the Chair of the Board of Directors under the new structure of the CLA.

"It has been quite a journey from when Brad MacArthur first advocated for us to take over control of the Merchants a few years ago through a couple of lost COVID seasons, to building up a very competitive team, to now, submitting the winning bid to host the 2025 Presidents Cup tournament! I can't thank our GM, Asst GMs, VPs and Secretary enough for all that they did to put together the winning bid. And of course, the numerous businesses who stepped up to support the bid - thank you!

Next season is the 25th anniversary of the Brooklin Merchants and hosting the Presidents Cup will make what was already going to be a special season, that much more memorable. My only regret is that Don "Sully" Vipond won't be there in person to be part of it, but we know that he'll be there with us in spirit."
